Claudia Lovisa
Jul 2014 24

Hard to believe that since Claudia Lovisa has been back in South Africa this was her first visit to Johannesburg, and we at Sound Sensible Radio couldn’t resist to get her into studio.

She glides through her mix with pure elegance, a solid house mix with licks of an African feel and a female touch that is undeniable.

Chatting to her she explains her moves all over the world and the success that came with it and reason for heading back home.

Thank you to Claudia for taking the time out to visit us in studio. Let’s hope we see you back in Jozi soon.

Black Book

Black Book, the Cape Town duo of Matt Blitz and Dan C, racking up gigs and making waves where ever they step foot. We caught up with them in the Sound Sensible studio’s ahead of their mini tour of Johannesburg and Durban.

The mix they presented to us and our listeners was nothing but a journey. From deep and melodic to the rolling sounds of driving techno.

The energetic and entertaining interview that followed expresses why these two are on the up.

Thanks to Matt and Dan for joining us, we expect to see you back soon.

Nick Grater

Teknotribe, one of South Africa’s longest running techno parties turned 11 this month. We got Nick Grater into the Sound Sensible studio’s to here all about it and the brand he has created.

In true Nick Grater style, the mix roars with up tempo techno goodness, smooth and powerful yet not over powering to send you running for the hills, it will get you up your feet.

The interesting interview that follows, Nick reminisces about the influence of squat parties, the road teknotribe and himself have taken over the years, and the purest approach he has chosen to stick with.

Much respect to Nick for what he has done for techno in this country and he’s not slowing down any time soon.

With the exciting news of Clinton Dodgen being up in Johannesburg, we couldn’t resist getting him back in the Sound Sensible Radio studio’s, this time as his solo act dodge.

In the interview he explains the new direction he’s taking, and the exciting news of possible up coming releases.

The quirky, intricate twists and turns the mix takes, backs up his explanation from the interview perfectly and shows exactly why we love having this quality artist in studio with us.

Respect to dodge for the love and passion he has for what he does. You are welcome back any time.

Michael Lesar

Michael Lesar is the guy responsible for those one of a kind Let’s Swing It parties everyone has been talking about of late, and ahead of it’s next instalment in Pretoria he found some time to drop by our studio and share his story with us.

Growing up in Cape Town, it didn’t take him long to find his calling and by the age of 13 was already mixing on old tape decks and teaching himself the art of mixing on anything he could get his hands on. A few years later and with a little more experience he was inspired to throw his first party, aptly named Deep Heat. The event exploded and continued for 10 years in warehouses across Cape Town and is what opened all the doors into the industry for Michael.

Michael is known for a wide variety of music, evident in the SSR44 podcast. With a mix like no other we have had on the show before, you can expect a mix full of electro swing music that we bet will have you, your folks and their folks grooving to it’s happy beat.

Thank you to Michael and his very interesting friend Fred Spider for joining us in studio, it is always such a pleasure to have such knowledgeable yet humble guests on the show.
